Turnbull School’s Land Acknowledgement
On September 30, 2021 we introduced Turnbull School’s Land Acknowledgement during morning announcements. These important words are on display in both main foyers of the school and are shared at the beginning of special occasions and assemblies.
We pay respect to the Algonquin people, our hosts and traditional, guardians of this land. We play, learn and grow on this unsurrendered and unceded land with them and all First Nations, Métis and Inuit people who call it home. We acknowledge our role in caring for this land that provides us food, clothing and shelter. We honour the courage of the Algonquin people and their leaders and traditional knowledge keepers.
