Our
mission

We meet every student where they are, building on their strengths and supporting their journey toward confident, well-rounded growth.

Turnbull School
Mission Statement

“Through a variety of opportunities, in partnership with parents and the community, Turnbull School challenges the students and faculty to develop their individual academic and personal growth in a cooperative and positive learning environment.”

How we
live our mission

We bring our mission to life through a student-centered approach that supports both academic and personal growth. With a strong focus on competency-based learning, students build essential skills, from critical thinking and communication to leadership and organization, that prepare them for future success. Within our close-knit school community, every student is known, supported, and encouraged to contribute, fostering a true sense of belonging while creating meaningful opportunities to grow, lead, and excel.

Spirit of
Caring

The staff of Turnbull School strive to foster an environment of genuine respect and caring among staff, students, and parents that will generate an atmosphere of kindness toward each other, toward our neighbours, toward communities near and far, and toward our planet.

Turnbull
School Honour Code

At Turnbull, the Honour Code guides students in both learning and character. Each year, students recommit to upholding the Code of Academic Excellence and the Code of Compassion, striving to do their personal best while supporting the growth of others. The Code of Academic Excellence encourages responsibility, preparation, and active participation, while the Code of Compassion reflects our belief that every individual deserves kindness and respect. Together, these principles shape a community where integrity, empathy, and personal growth are at the heart of daily life.

Parent Volunteer
Committee

Our students’ parents play a vital role in their growth and are highly valued members of our school community. The Parent Volunteer Committee (PVC) is a venue where parents can choose to be actively involved in aspects of our school life. The primary focus of the PVC is to help facilitate the school’s organization and implement planned activities that raise money for the three charities Turnbull School supports (The United Way, Help Lesotho and The Ottawa Hospital). Among other areas where PVC members also lend a hand is with managing our lost and found, helping distributing food on pizza days, and volunteering at special events.
