“Turnbull School is a special place. I have a unique perspective, having been part of the Turnbull School community as both a student and now a parent. I have watched the school physically grow and evolve, and yet the core values, community, and most importantly the people, are what drew me back when choosing a school for our children.

When I was a student, Turnbull School was small, existing entirely in what is now the junior school building. We had no gym and music room. This resulted in a strong family-like community, where teachers and students all knew each other. Through years of expansion, this has remained a strength. While academics and extra-curricular activities are important, the best part of Turnbull School is, and always has been, the people. Many of my former teachers are still teaching at Turnbull, and others have transitioned to positions of leadership. The fact that so many staff have remained for more than 20 years speaks volumes about the Turnbull School community. I also have many friends from my Turnbull days, some of whom are also now returning as Turnbull parents. From the moment you walk in the doors everyone is greeted with kindness and compassion, which truly makes it a place you never want to leave.

Turnbull’s commitment to developing caring, well-rounded students is grounded in its small class sizes, allowing students to have dedicated attention and enabling teachers to foster a love of learning beginning from Kindergarten. As a Turnbull student, I learned how to learn and how to study, and felt well prepared transferring these skills to high school, university, and beyond. My daughter is already learning the same skills, with students given extra support or extra challenges to help each individual grow to their full potential. Teachers recognize students’ curiosity and guide encourage them to be their true selves, highlighting that everyone has different interests and teaching acceptance of all. By extension, the numerous clubs and extracurricular opportunities mean there is always a space for everyone to shine.

We’re thrilled with our choice to send our children to Turnbull School, knowing they will be challenged, encouraged, and cared for during these key development years, and we look forward to being part of the Turnbull School community for years to come.”
